Royal Match Lives Guide: Refills, Team Help, and Royal Pass
Learn how Royal Match lives work, refill times, Team requests, free-life storage, and how Royal Pass changes the maximum.
By RoyalMatch.wiki Editorial Team
Lives represent attempts at Royal Match levels. You lose one when you fail a level, recover them over time, and can receive additional help through a Team.
The current official rules are straightforward, but “regular lives,” “free lives,” and timed unlimited-life rewards are easy to confuse. This guide keeps those concepts separate and avoids promising event rewards that can change.
Lives at a glance
The normal maximum is five lives.
An active paid Royal Pass raises that maximum to eight lives.
Failing a level costs one life.
One life replenishes every 30 minutes.
Team members can respond to life requests.
The official guide says you cannot request more lives while holding more than 10 free lives.
These values were checked against Dream Games support on July 24, 2026 and should be reviewed again if the game changes its economy.
When a life is lost
A life is consumed when a level attempt fails. The official gameplay guide defines failure as running out of moves before completing all targets.
That makes move planning part of life management. A careful final move can preserve both the attempt and the refill time that another life would require.
For board tactics, see How to Beat Hard Levels.
Automatic refill time
The official Lives article says one life replenishes every 30 minutes.
If the regular capacity is five and the balance is empty, a complete natural refill therefore represents five separate refill intervals. The game interface is the source of truth for the live timer, especially if a temporary benefit is active.
Strategy note
If you are about to stop playing, spending a remaining regular life can allow the refill timer to work during the break. Do not intentionally throw a level simply to empty the bar; use the attempt normally.
Team life requests
Teams unlock after beating level 20. One of their core benefits is the ability to communicate and give lives to teammates.
The official process is:
A teammate requests lives.
Other members see the request on the Teams tab.
A member taps Help to contribute.
The official Lives article says players cannot ask for lives when they have more than 10 free lives.
Joining an active Team can reduce waiting, but no Team can guarantee immediate fulfillment. Choose a group whose activity level and expectations match how often you play. The Teams guide covers roles, life help, and event participation.
Regular lives versus free lives
The normal heart capacity and stored free lives are related but not identical:
Regular lives refill over time up to the current normal maximum.
Free lives can come from Team help or eligible rewards and may be stored separately.
The request restriction uses the stored free-life count described by the official support article.
Always rely on the labels and counters in the current game interface rather than assuming every heart icon affects the same balance.
Royal Pass life benefit
Royal Pass is a monthly, time-limited feature with free rewards and an optional paid track. While activated, one of its documented special benefits raises the maximum life count from five to eight.
That benefit lasts only for the active Royal Pass period. The official guide says special bonuses no longer apply once the new month begins.
The extra capacity does not make every purchase automatically valuable. Consider how often you reach the normal five-life cap and how much of the other reward track you expect to complete. See the full Royal Pass guide.
Unlimited-life rewards
Royal Match events and chests can present timed rewards, including unlimited-life periods. The exact availability and duration can vary, so this guide does not list a fixed event schedule.
Practical preparation:
Claim a timed reward when you have time to play, if the interface allows delayed claiming.
Review active events first so the same level wins can advance several tracks.
Avoid starting a timed reward immediately before an interruption.
Treat the displayed in-game timer as authoritative.
Whether a timer pauses outside the game should be confirmed from the current reward screen; do not assume.
When to spend coins on lives
Coins can buy extra lives, but natural refills and Team help are alternatives.
Before spending:
Check the next natural refill timer.
Check whether a Team request is available.
Look for already-claimed free lives.
Decide whether you need to continue immediately.
Preserve enough coins for a more valuable extra-move or booster decision.
This is a budgeting choice, not an official ranking. The free-coins guide explains documented coin sources and safe use.
Frequently asked questions
How many regular lives can I have?
The current normal maximum is five. An activated Royal Pass raises it to eight for that pass period.
How long does one life take to refill?
The official support page states that one life replenishes every 30 minutes.
Why can I not request lives from my Team?
One documented reason is holding more than 10 free lives. Team membership, connectivity, and request state can also affect what the interface shows.
Does helping a teammate cost one of my lives?
The official Team flow presents a Help action for responding to a request; it does not describe that action as removing one of the helper's own lives.
Do lives matter in every event?
Many events progress through normal level wins, so failed attempts still affect the underlying life balance. Individual events can also grant special first-entry benefits or use separate side-board currency. Read the active event rules.
Do unlimited lives increase my stored heart count?
Timed unlimited-life benefits are displayed as a temporary play benefit rather than a permanent increase to the normal maximum. Follow the current in-game timer and reward description.
